When You Look At It That Way...

*'Malcom' Rig was provided by AnimSchool.com

Here's another little test I put together. The process for this one went very smoothly, and I'm pretty happy with the way it came out. My wife is convinced that this is supposed to be me. What can I say? I drink coffee and tend to wear black shirts.

A Dirty Job

Here's a new test I've been working on:
The trash that spills out of the bag just ended up being sort of like mud or compost simply because I didn't want to model and animate a bunch of small objects, so sue me!  Just rigging the bag was a trick in itself.  This situation itself is actually very familiar to me from my two years experience as a barback in a New York City restaurant.  I'm just glad to be making new CG stuff for my reel again!

(P.S. The character rig I used is called the 'Malcom Rig' and I got it courtesy of AnimSchool.com)

I Mean Business

Here's a new animation test, finally. I modeled and rigged* this character as well, and he will probably be appearing in my film next year, with some changes (a different costume, and without that hair).

I have also completely modeled and rigged* another character besides this one, so look forward to an animation test with her soon!

*using the Advanced Skeleton Auto-Rigger for much of it

Note to Self:

Don't edit your referenced character set without saving your reference edits, or your character's face will EXPLODE!
PS.  More animation coming SOON!

What you don't want people to say...

...When they see your student film.

Another dialogue test for my animation class/reel.

What do you know?

Hey, it's an update finally out of the clear blue sky! My long absence is due obviously to the fact that I have been working hard on my film, which is still on schedule. I've also been scrambling lately to add things to my demo reel and try to get it as polished as I can and put it up on my blog before the job fair which is coming up fast.

This is a quick dialogue test I did for CG animation class. I shot reference of myself acting it out first, which I never really did for dialogue before, and I really enjoy that method of working.

Invisible Dragons

This is my last assignment for the semester in Greg Griffith's CG animation class. Also, I modeled the sword.

A Striking Scenario

This is my latest work for my CG animation class. The assignment was to bring an audio clip with no dialogue and create a scene around that, and also to have the character interact with some object. I might have spent as much time on the lighting and render settings as I did on the animation, but I still think it came out okay. Also this is the first time I've added the feature to enable audio on one of my tests. Check it out>>>

Raising the Bar

Here's some slightly wonky CG animation that I did recently in my CG animation class. The assignment was to do some physical activity with the character model, named Blake. I did a test that allowed me to experiment with the FK/IK switches on the character's hands, which I had never used before.

Random Animation From Last Year

This is some of the animation that I produced while in my 2D and CG animation classes last year at Calarts.  I definitely left a lot of room for improvement this year!
